Nearly every household experiences arguments. However, when arguments cross a legal definition of abuse, domestic violence occurs. California Penal Codes 243(e)(1) ”Domestic Battery” and 273.5 “Inflicting Corporal Injury on an Intimate Partner", make it a crime to harm or threaten an intimate partner.
Our intense 52-week program includes the following curriculum to promote healthy relationships: - in-depth knowledge and skills to prevent domestic violence - a combination of education and counseling - understanding the causes of domestic abuse - nature of violence - the dynamics of power and control - anger management - gender roles - male/female socialization - effects physical abuse has on a victim & children - goal to make changes to prevent recidivism - promote victim safety
